A Poem

A lifetime spent in black and white.

Until a spark of joy ignited my faulty wires.

Never knowing the true meaning of my deficiency until your benevolence rouses me.

The second colors flood my senses, I’m brought to my knees with an overwhelming melancholy.

Every memory replays with a brand new technicolor filter, explaining every moment that was patently confounding.

I catch a glance in the mirror and I come to find that the skin I have been living with has a distinctive gradient, from a blinding fuchsia to neon lime.

A feature no one could have missed. It was in fact pointed out to me time after time.

Apparently, I have been the one who has lied all this time. I swear I thought that I was devoid of color. Living life in black and white
