Fallen

A Poem

I leap from the platform at the center of the stage

My soaring flight has reached its end

I plunged into the crowd no net

Although I trained intensely and climbed cloud high

My body simply gave up as it reached the sky

Now I wake each morning to grounded signs

Unable to rise from my blacked out malaise

With limbs encased in white plaster and linen caves

I drag them about, now just heavy burdensome attachments

Eyes glazed over from either the pills or the pain

Dreaming of flying while I’m splayed out on the floor again
