My new friend, William Carlos Williams,
Worries about line mechanics
And, secretly, lifeless art
Indicating he has been absorbed
By the canon
Which he defied, then later defined
Lava does not worry
About what shape to take
It flows as it will
And can be dangerous
Burning those who touch it
Lava creates as it destroys
Burning what was
But creating new stones
New islands
Life from chaos
If you build from brick
Cool, lifeless brick
You can have a fine building
Respected by architects
But still housing cool, lifeless things
Protecting those who can afford it
And threatening no one
Until it collapses.
