Christopher Hitchens

A Searing Sonnet

Give me irony or it is my death

The Hitch understood it till his last breath

Sarcasm is sharper than any knife

providing the stabbing passes to life

Cynicism is dissimilar truth

misunderstood by idiots and youth

Johnnie Walker Black Label’s required

for dryness whether it is acquired

diligently admired desired

or even uninspired expired

Mordancy is another quality

of irony using biting humour

to dispel anything but a tumour

though a rumour can carry polity

...

Arguably

An Eclectic Haiku

Arguably he’s

been awarded the title

Earth Alpha Type God

...

The Hitch is gone but he will never be forgotten.
