cheeky

being earnest

i have been present with you, so i don't know how i can trust you entirely.

and you know i want to, still, and i am filled with hope and love, for all.

i am angry and joyful, and i know every other emotion there is to feel.

it's how you keep me in limbo, like a helicopter god with The Hanged Man,

like you see a stack of dollar bills, like you are a little green-eyed monster.

i am durable, delicate, and i am valuable; even more so, in and of myself.

because even the best counterfeit is nothing like an original masterpiece.

so i dedicate this one to you and to love, and like Mr. Wilde's sentiment,

there is the greatest importance of being earnest, my endearing friend.

but i can see you think it's worth it, clearly, from where i stand firm,

so who am i to stop you or keep you from the piece you want to have.

there is enough to go around- up, down, all over the town, anywhere else.

while there is a sincerity in your actions, your words are a different story.

if you want to get pedantic, into semantics, do it and quit talking about it.

you certainly are a cheeky bloke, quite cute, and i appreciate the attitude.

i like it when you love me, but i don't think or feel like it's the true type.

if you want to know me, you will never get to if you keep looking down,

not saying things that you don't mean, not chasing a weasel around a bush.

what i am and have is a gift; it's not a weapon i wield or use to draw blood.

no holy paper armor on, can't reenact a re-creation, even if it's in a book,

that doesn't mean all people want to use it with skill or good intentions.

what does it matter what i think of you or if you think i am too critical.

in the community i want to have, it is customary to accept direct feedback,

and to return the kindness - not be sarcastic, ambiguous, and cruel.

one of these days you will bite that tongue in your cheek, this much i know.

and when, and if, you ever need to heal, when you really want to talk it out,

when you feel all alone and attacked, not to be blamed for being a victim.

i'll will be there if you want me to be. i won't make you suffer for my heart.
