A Poetic Shout Out Against Impulsiveness

We live in an era of instant gratification and want everything done immediately. We do everything at a speed worthy of the Flash and his Reverse. Everyone does a few tasks at once because the demands of life entail it .

I like the rush, I've to admit. Doing things quickly is part of my ADHD nature. However, the maxim "more haste, less speed' couldn't ring more true - powering through everything isn't always wise.

We've to admire the steadily burning Candle Flame. Enjoy these free verses.

Candle

Centre of the sun

Omniscient

Sustained flame never misses

Light shines

Wax drips

Fast, though

Never drips

In a rush

Burns brisk

But with a grace

that never abates

And stands

The test of time

A light

That shines

In every nook

Serene, present

Inspiring

Solid flame

Burns at a pace

That immerses

In its solemnity.
