California Rain

Nothing left the same

Around here broken hearts get traded

Tainted in blood but we love the taste

Drained on the inside, not a single dropped wasted

Replaced by tomorrow night's mistake

You go through men like cheap motels

Along this crowded highway from hell

Oh, they know

Yes, they know

Your mascara runs marathons

What are you chasing? I can't tell

She came and went like California rain

Make up stains running down my shirt

Long gone but nothing left the same

A beautiful mess of memories filled with dirt

I hate the drought but can live without the pain

She came and went like California rain

Around here the clouds are overdue

Sunny places but this crowd of faces

Is filled with doom

Like morning sun covers dew

We're so done but there are traces left of you

Leave the comfort that you've known so well

What are you running from? You won't tell

She came and went like California rain

Make up stains running down my shirt

Long gone but nothing left the same

A beautiful mess of memories filled with dirt

I hate the drought but can live without the pain

She came and went like California rain

heartbreak
