By the Tide

.

By CotardDelusionzPublished 2 months ago • 1 min read

Together we're

Sitting in the sand

Hoping to get farther

away

From the pain

But it remains

We're sitting close

But not close enough

There's a space between us

For the wind to breeze through

I feel your presence

But never your skin

We don't ever look at each other

Too fixated on the ocean in front of us

Lost in our own thoughts

Watching the tide get closer

To the point it reaches our toes

As if we're waiting for the wave

To swoop us away

I notice you shiver

So I try to move closer

Hoping to warm you

But you move further

Then I see you stand and walk towards the water

And I watch as if you're an angel

But then I realize

As your feet dip under the water

I scramble up and try to yell “No!”

But the only thing that comes out is a whisper

Because the fear is so strong

It catches my voice

I try to grab your hand

But as soon as my feet touch the water

They turn to sand

I fall over

Head first

I try to catch myself but my hands turn to sand

One side of my face smacks the water and creates a splash

I lays in the shallow water slowly transforming and sinking

With all my effort I raise my head , only half of it remains,

The other half is dripping into the water as sand

To look at you one last time

You're already half way into the water

I watch helplessly

As you go further and further

Till I see your head go under

And there's nothing but the dark vast sea ahead of me

I put my head down and let the tide wash over me

Eventually every grain of me washes into the sea

Knowing this is the closest I'll be

To you

Here we will be

For eternity

As the sand and sea
