Oh, what a night, oh, what a life, she’d painted for herself,

She’d rather lose her life than put her dreams back on the shelf.

Drowning in tomorrow’s tears, dancing solo on life’s stage,

No jealousy could taint the verse, she bled upon the page.

Helpless, in depression’s grasp, a puppet on a string,

Her wish to be a pretty fish had got under her skin...

Last night she dreamt, she'd made a wish, perhaps it worked too well?

‘Oh, to swim with silvery scales, amid the ocean's swell’!

.

Awoken by the hiss of waves, exhaling on the sand,

Where silhouetted mountains rose from unfamiliar lands.

She saw herself in visions, like a stranger in her mind,

Upon a cliff, by moonlight kissed, her stars had realigned.

She waved her tail, away she swam, her rainbow scales agleam,

Her fears outweighed by brilliant hues of Neptune’s wondrous scenes.

Alive, beneath the sea to fly, the long lost nether worlds,

Where corals sway, in salted sands, their petals to unfurl.

Entranced by her sweet beauty, by her graceful heart, beguiled,

A Merman found a woman, with the spirit of a child.

He took her down where sailors drown, among the golden weeds,

They dove beneath the murky blue, besotted, wild and free.

.

Her Merman Prince, held tight her hand, beneath his kingdom's sea,

His fondest wish was to romance, his future Mermaid Queen.

No more sad, pathetic, gossips, who called themselves her friends,

Her home would be the seven seas, where nobody pretends.

.

The love she'd yearned for in her dreams, of deep eternal bliss,

Transpired beneath the playful waves, sealed with a timeless kiss.

The rhythm of their heartbeats danced 'neath blue and moody seas,

She’d weep no more, on earthly shores, to lonely symphonies...

.
