Buzz the Bee sleeps on a leaf and awakes from a close call of a fast bat, telling him about a party. He opens his tired eyes and stands up to stretch himself so he can admire the beautiful endless fields. Lavender fields buzzing like thousands of men in a concert. Jumping up and down on a leaf until he can gain enough strength to bring up his little wings with enough speed for his large body and small wings to fly onward.

High up by the sun, he can sail in the wind, buzz through the clouds, and exercise his nostrils to breathe the aromatic scents. The flower scents stick to his hairy body, and he smiles when he meets his first flower face. All the beautiful flower faces smile back, while the bees kiss them all day until their petals cover them through the night in their dreams.

As much as Buzz loves to circle the fields, he decides to take the bat up on his invitation to the party. Maybe he will make friends with other bees, see some of his family there, or even meet someone special.

He follows where the bat was headed and finds a wildflower field deep in the forest by a mountain spring. Bees, butterflies, ladybugs, and dragonflies are having the time of their lives while engaging in flying, surfing, landing, singing, and honey eating contests.

Buzz joins in the many activities until his heart skips a beat and he stops sucking out the nectar from a thick lavender heart. A big fluffy bee with the longest eyelashes he’d ever seen is high up in the anthers bathing herself while munching on pollen.

Would you like to be my friend? Buzz asks her. Where are you from and what’s your name? The pretty bee replies. I rest on a leaf in another lavender field and my name is Buzz. Yes, your buzz got my attention, you made me nervous, and I made a real mess, she laughs. I’m Lavender and I live here, this is my home, and I’d like a friend because I’d like to have many memories together with someone who adores me.
