But first, Coffee

Fuel for productivity or wake up call for the lucid dreamer?

Week 1 of the 52 Weeks of Inktober. Prompt: Fresh. Created by myself.

But first, Coffee

Start the morning fresh with dark liquid

When dreams the night before were lucid.

Grounded in reality

Americano specialty.

Hoping dreams do not become prediction.

Hoping caffeine does not become addiction.

But first, Distraction.

Never productive, always busy,

Heartbeat high, and feeling dizzy.

Why do I drink it? For the taste?

To help me finish tasks with haste?

Live with a mind that is always thinking.

A break. A distraction. A pause. Drinking.

But first, Success.

Socially acceptable chemical addiction

At least not a drug or doctor prescription.

Why constantly push to be productive?

Fortune and fame are all so seductive.

What about

But first, Peace?

Start the morning fresh with writing poetry

Maybe dreams are not as they appear to be.
