Busted Facade

We tend to only ever show someone our highlight reel,

Because it seems more important to be put together,

Then by expressing our we really feel,

Especially when we’re feeling under the weather.

People say there's a time and place for everything,

If your facade ever falls short,

You are accused of not being,

A good sport when all you really need is some support.

They say, “your bringing people down”,

Are you still crying over him?”,

Nobody wants to be around,

A person with no emotional discipline.

But inside,

you're holding yourself together with threads,

When all you want to do is cry,

But then you push your feelings down further instead.

Put a smile on your face,

Be the good in someone else's day,

Even if inside your withering away,

From all your internal pain.

People say:

“It's not as bad as you think,

You have a home and a family,

You have an occupational life preserver, you won't sink,

It's your choice if you want to live happily”.

Why must we say we’re good when we aren't,

Is it to keep up an appearance,

We are here pretending to be transparent,

While functioning is a task of perseverance.

And if we break down and cry,

We are letting emotions rule us,

And forget about looking into someone's eyes,

Whatever you do just don't make it obvious.

We either don't want to be an inconvenience,

Or cry to anyone who isn't involved,

But sometimes no matter if their an acquaintance,

It comes out like a waterfall.

You can only push it down and pretend so much,

Sometimes your emotions rule you,

And it only takes one thing for that facade to bust!
