They say you can see someone’s soul just by gazing into their eyes.
So if you catch me staring darling, now you know why.
I’m not being rude I promise you this.
Your honey bourbon soul is my definition of bliss.
Behind the gold speckles that appear in the light
I can see the loneliness that’s hidden in plain sight.
You work to conceal the pain that is there.
So no one can see it, so no one’s aware.
You and I, we’re the same you know?
A mirror you could say, a part of my soul.
We’re just two broken people cleaning the mess others have made.
Somehow in the process we lost ourselves along the way.
Maybe it’s just me and maybe I’m insane
But when I look into your eyes I can see the pain.
A pain that’s familiar, and a pain that is real
A pain that still hurts, but you learn to deal.
I remember reading stories about destiny and fate.
How true love arrived on time, and was never late.
So can’t you see love? I’m just like you.
With the same bourbon soul and a heart of blue.
I can’t fix everything that your heart has endured.
However, I can promise that my heart will always be yours.
