A poem by Keila Aartila
Even though the chores need doing,
these words, I will not speed.
I know, I should be writing,
but I’d really rather read.
***
Savoring each written morsel
for its life sustaining bite,
I do not need hot supper,
I am lost within the plight
***
of characters imagined,
now lively in my hopes.
I cannot leave them hanging
in a distant land unknown.
***
Phrases now take hold of me.
For my escape, I am not sorry -
in this place, I'm free to fly,
used dishes lose to story.
Thanks for reading this silly poem. Do you have problems pulling yourself away from a good book to do what “needs doing?”

One that I missed , excellent words , and I have have enjoyed it now
Yes, I find it hard to tear myself away from the written page! Loved this!
Oh my gosh yes haha. I’ve never been able to leave the characters waiting for resolution!! I have found listening to audiobooks to be the only way I get anything done now 🤣
This one is very interesting. It has a good poetic structure. Job well done.
My hand is raised high. Me, I always have toruble leaving a good book for the sake of the "must dos" of life.
Wonderful!! I feel like this all the time. ☺️ Chores can wait while I bring these ideas to life. I loved this!
I loved the line "I cannot leave them hanging, in a distant land unknown." Reminds me of the relationships I have with my characters lol. I hate leaving them hanging when they are just as eager to know how it turns out as me. Fun read... Thanks
This sounded very musical to me, like song lyrics! Very beautiful. And I love reading too!
I feel it! Yes. Thank you!

This is great, and so relatable.
Yes, I think this poem could be my anthem! Of course, I do eventually do the stuff I have to do, but it's hard to pull away from a good read :) Wonderful work!
