The pure souls

In the realm of shadows, where history unfurls,

A tapestry of strength, resilience, and pearls.

I scribe a verse, a hymn, a song of might,

Celebrating black souls, in the moon's soft light.

From the ancient shores of Africa's embrace,

To the diaspora's journey, a long, arduous race,

Black people have thrived, their spirits unwound,

In the face of adversity, they've always found ground.

In ebony hues, rich as the midnight sky,

Their stories unfold, soaring high and wide.

From Mali's ancient kingdom, a beacon of art,

To Nubian queens, regal from the very start.

In the land of pyramids, a cradle of life,

Kemet's wisdom cut through earthly strife.

They gave the world knowledge, geometry, and math,

Inscribed on papyrus, their indelible path.

From Timbuktu's scrolls, a treasure trove of lore,

To Ethiopia's Ark, forever to adore.

Black civilizations, majestic and grand,

Their legacy endures, forever to stand.

But history's tale, not always told right,

The transatlantic voyage, a dreadful, dark night.

The chains of oppression, the auctioneer's call,

Yet through the pain, they still stood tall.

In the cotton fields, beneath the sun's sear,

They sang spirituals, voices ringing clear.

Harriet Tubman, a conductor of hope,

Guided them to freedom, helped them to cope.

In the hush of night, 'neath the North Star's gleam,

The Underground Railroad, a lifeline, a dream.

To Harriet's lantern, a beacon so bright,

Freedom's promise, a guiding light.

Through civil strife, the Emancipation Proclamation,

A step towards freedom, a new foundation.

But the struggle continued, a long and weary fight,

To secure their rights, to live in the light.

In the Harlem Renaissance, a cultural bloom,

Langston, Zora, and Duke in full costume.

Their words and music, a powerful brew,

Reshaped the world's view, brought a different hue.

From the streets of Selma, to Montgomery's bus,

Rosa Parks's courage, a symbol for us.

The Civil Rights Movement, a thunderous roar,

Dr. King's dream echoed forevermore.

Malcolm X, Angela Davis, and Maya Angelou,

Their voices resounding, their message true.

Black Panthers stood, proud and bold,

Championing justice, their story told.

From the dance of Alvin Ailey to Serena's court,

Black excellence shines in every sort.

From Maya Moore's slam dunk to Kamala's rise,

Black women soar, reaching new highs.

The power of black culture, rhythm, and soul,

Hip-hop and jazz, they play a vital role.

From Louis to Miles, Aretha to Jay,

Their melodies captivate, take our breath away.

In the world of sports, they break every mold,

Usain's lightning speed, Ali's stories untold.

From Jackie to LeBron, from Arthur to Simone,

Their feats inspire, a legacy to own.

In science and tech, they innovate and soar,

Hidden Figures, NASA's lore.

From George Washington Carver's peanut dreams,

To the stars and beyond, their vision gleams.

In the realm of literature, a boundless sea,

From Toni Morrison's words to Baldwin's decree.

Chinua Achebe's Africa, a storytelling feast,

Their words unite nations, east to west.

From Black Lives Matter, a call to the skies,

To the echoes of "I can't breathe," a nation's cries.

They march and protest, demand their rights,

A battle for justice, day and night.

In the halls of power, they rise and shine,

From Obama's presidency to Harris's line.

Representation matters, in every sphere,

Their voices grow stronger, year after year.

So here's to black people, strong and proud,

Their history, their culture, forever endowed.

In unity and love, they continue to thrive,

In the tapestry of life, they'll forever survive.

In every heartbeat, in every soul's grace,

Their resilience shines, a guiding embrace.

In the face of adversity, they stand tall,

Black people, you're cherished, you inspire us all.
