Bird Cage

Poetry

I'm like a bird inside a cage.

I'm locked inside and full of rage.

I beg of someone to open my door,

So I can spread my wings and soar.

I sing a song of pain and sorrow.

I hope things will look up tomorrow.

Oh, what I'd give to see the sun

and not be locked away from everyone.

I wish someone could understand,

and let me perch upon his hand.

Oh, how I'd feel to be a dove,

and fly into a world of love.

Or an eagle soaring in the clouds,

far away from hurt and doubt.

But I am just a parakeet,

who is treated like a crow,

and I may never have the chance

to let my colors show.
