Believing Is Seeing

Why does my heart care so much about being loved and why doesn't my mind recognize when I am loved?

I am strong.

I am handsome.

And I am worthy of love.

Yet, I find it difficult to believe when I say those words to myself.

Perhaps it's the people who never made time for me.

Or maybe it's the people who walked away as quickly as they showed up.

Maybe it was the way you pointed at my body, as if you were saying, "that doesn't deserve love."

And maybe, I believed those words.
