like a baby
just teething
crawling now
still breathing
baby steps toward something new
a patch of sky–a shard of blue
•
waiting for the confidence
still a little on the fence
but moving forward, day by day
as if growth was a game to play
•
with each breath
i am someone new.
in my lungs
like superglue
molding me in some new shape
a stolen glimpse of someone’s face:
a girl i know i’ve seen before
the one whose voice i can’t ignore
•
baby steps.
try not to rush
just find the beauty
in the hush
that comes before the break of day–
you’ve almost made it, anyway

Every line was so brilliant and that ending sent me ❤️
Life seems to be in a great rush these days. We better slow down an take it slow for real. Surely find the hush.
this is absolutely stunning
I balked at the line, "like superglue," thinking that didn't seem to fit. Until I remembered that superglue, for all its tenacity, is water-soluble. Our bodies are composed mostly of water, which led me to consider how so often it seems as though our lives our fixed, that we have established our course & set upon it, only to have the present moment dissolve into something new that follows. And suddenly I realized just how amazing that line is. Incredible, Joelle. Simply incredible.
Admirable Piece ❤️💯📝😉
Love the message and flow of your poem. Thanks for creating and sharing it.
This is such a great reminder to take things slow sometimes, we don't have to rush all the time.
This felt so uplifting and soothing at the same time! I loved it!
