Sitting, watching. Watching the leaves walk across the yard.

I think of autumns pasted. When being a child playing in the fallen leaves,

how crisp they sounded under foot. The smell of burining leaves

across the way. The sound of children at play.

I miss the warm cob fire my father lit to wram us from the chilly air.

The pot belly stove that warmed our hands when we came in from play.

The cat, asleep behind the stove, on an old worn blanket.

So my thouhgts pop back to reality, I watch dark gray clouds that soon

will bring the snow. Yet my heart goes back to long ago.
