Surrendering to Fall’s embrace

Darkness is at hand,

In nightscapes of devilry

Wild, and magically planned,

The call of owls spirit the night

With matching eyes of gold

The smell of leaves is everywhere

Their stories yet untold

Whispering winds in unison

Go calling out your name

“Come stay with me”, their haunting cry

“You’ll never be the same”

Pale, the faces hidden there

Beckoning, ghostly white,

As silhouettes of former selves

Reach out to you in the night

Hallows Eve has finally come

Her array of colors vast

Her lovely song a reverie

Of lives that have long passed

In lantern light that pirouettes

Like dancers in a flame

Illuminating darkened paths

That call to old Samhain

To part the veil for just tonight

And bring the ghostly call

That comes to us one night a year

“Happy Halloween to all”
