Brush-loved blues and greens.

I’m painted canvas in the corner

not for show to every eye.

Unrelenting artist defied nadir and night to fashion craft,

as my colors could not leave him.

Dripped reds with yellows on the floor

so my soul would not believe him

though spirit broken and fingers sore.

Grappling mood while grieving life.

Neither one of us could talk.

Every shade of reticence.

Every hurt from decades gone.

Neither one of us felt ready.

Grasping greens while gathering blues.

An explosion bound to happen so mass relief for barren hues.

Sapphire screamed at seafoam,

sulking silent rage, forgotten tears.

Jade juvenile and distant at indigo impotence for years.

Royal blue repeatedly reckless

with joint accounts, communal cash.

Army green shouted obscenities,

had random sex, got high on hash.

Cerulean suggestions fled forest-green moss-scented pine.

Iris indiscretions incite ivy illusions that everything is fine.

Paints flying all around a nearby canvas.

Destructive frenzy found release.

All the blues and greens now mixing,

divergent patterns, prospective peace.

Certain relationships…are just not healthy.

Lessons long learned of letting go

grant me cause for celebration.

Masterpiece still in the making.

Scars have healed and colors taking

deep breath in as silent meditation

for artwork veiled ‘til time is nigh.

I’m painted canvas in the corner

and not for show to every eye.
