Arlene's Last Love

~ ~ ~

Memories grow blurrier by the year,

my eyes, again -- begin to tear.

Why'd you fly off to Heaven so soon, my dear,

being left behind, it was my worst fear.

If I could, I'd go back to the beach with you,

you held my emotions, as a invisible form of glue.

You were an electrical linemen, repairing power lines,

I'm still a dental hygienist, checking for cavities and their signs.

I'll never forget the way you were my soulmate,

cancer took you, too fast, it was simply too late.
