Another Moment Wasted

A Poem

By Elise Published 4 years ago 1 min read

atop a mountain they embrace

unable to let go of a past they once shared

unable to let go of each other

everything leads them back to the love they feel for one another

yet they waste every chance given to heal their connection

no true words are spoken

fear stands guard

holding back the affection they both wish to share

another moment wasted

they watch as the sun sets

on all they dreamt of having together

she looks into his eyes and becomes lost

he turns from her gaze

his heart aches with desire

and shatters under the pressure

another chance wasted

time is swept away

as day turns to night

the stars begin to show themselves

and the moon solemnly rises

knowing too well they'll never reveal their hearts

too afraid to let it echo into the valley's

they bury it deep beneath the mountain

and allow it to be lost to them forever

the stars fade out and begin to fall turning to snow

covering any hope left over

the words they wish to speak are unable to form

instead they melt and waste away

wasted chances

wasted moments

wasted love
