and, so on...

you can't hold me kill

"vivisection" jason alan, summer 2024

and there i am, each night

lighting fires in the window

still waiting, wildly

a part of a parting party

begins forever young

this time is indifferent

he says again and again

a story he tells himself

he won't stay hurt long

and so he never learns

what he won't stay to know

my romantic vivisection

what seeing really does

away looks less troubled

shuffles, bumps, knocks

picking at the locks

of the cracks in a window

and doors open left

he wants it to be home

but my ghosts meet his

reindeer games, not

on-size-fits, Rudolph

my knows starts glowing

cover that light, direct

artificial beyond here

uncanny silicone valleys

existential labyrinth

traps of the melodies

haunted from ghosts only

they help me see shadows

and i dance with spirits

with trees and rocks

they are all more alive

than he lives, staying sick

and i hear their thanks

because i have been, too

i see what is forgotten

each one of us, different

still, with one shared goal

a cause worthy of devotion

just to live, and let live

then to share, and to give

the freedom of being seen

not afraid of my body

to look in my soul

as i wish

but not enter at my own risk

the light hides my darkness

but i can radiate at will

battleground perpetual

twilight blood horizon

to live is in between

committed to the shifty

you can't hold me kill

no white flag will fly

over my cold dead garden

after winter, spring comes

and, so on...

and there i am, each night

lighting fires in the window

still waiting, wildly
