American Wilderness
W. Joe O'Banion
Wind rustling
Birds chirping
Fire crackling
Energy courses through grass, trees, and dirt
Horns honking
Neighbors shouting
Sirens wailing
Energy courses through wires, lights, and cars
Different planets on one earth
One full of promise, refresh, and peace
One full of mundane, monotony, and strife
Paralleled in power, but opposite in output
Where rivers flow, instead traffic
Where animals graze, instead checkout lines
Tranquil horizons, instead televisions screens
Peace in freedom, chaos in unnatural order
Balance brought through recharge
Energy gathered in nature
Harvested like hydroelectric
Dispersed through daily routine
Breaths gathered in fresh air
Expelled in smog covered ordinary
Calm received in nature
Expressed in modern life
The wild energy source can be harvested whenever time is made to gather peace.
The American dream fueled by the American wilderness
