am i muse or am i man

more held together than heart

By ⸘jason alan‽Published 5 months ago Updated 5 months ago 1 min read

I seek tragic happily-ever-afters

but i run directly at disasters

time after time and over again

i reject the stove yet burns

and my hands as currency gambled

to not make a choice is one

am i muse or am i man

whose week is it to keep me

from refusing the same lessons

for matters of my heart strums

somebody save me from myself

please save me from my love

because i love things that hurt

i often deny the things i know

make my confusion rational

know how this game plays out

emotional avoidance or survival

tune in tomorrow for a new episode

the same thrilling time and place

and a plot just as predictable.

i can’t sink or swim for him, but it..

won't stop me from the hope of...

not again, kept a safe distance.

love encourages dumb things

wildly, overtly, optimistically.

patterns of a man branded into scars

broken so many times before this

more held together than heart
