Alzheimer's

The struggle to remember, a daily fight, To hold on to moments, once shining bright, But the disease continues its cruel delight, Alzheimer's, a thief in the middle of the night

A mind once bright, now fades away, Lost in the tangles of time and decay, Memories once clear, now blur and fray, Alzheimer's steals them day by day.

Faces once familiar, now a stranger, Names once known, now slip out of range, Fragments of the past, now torn asunder, Alzheimer's robs them of their wonder.

A life once lived, now in fragments, A story once told, now lost in segments, The person we knew, now a mere vestige, Alzheimer's takes hold, with an iron leverage.

The struggle to remember, a daily fight, To hold on to moments, once shining bright, But the disease continues its cruel delight, Alzheimer's, a thief in the middle of the night.

We watch as the mind slips away, Hoping for a cure, for a brighter day, For a world where memories will forever stay, And Alzheimer's will be forever kept at bay.
