Her skin

Velvet smooth

With drops of honey

Against the purity of her wedding dress

As she admires herself in the mirror

Her reflection leaving her breathless

There once was a time when this day existed

Only in her diaries and her dreams

Today her tears were different

When she got down on both knees

*

With trembling hands

She traced the pearls around her neck

And within a few moments

Felt her mother’s presence

Then she remembered

Her promise to be there

On her special day

Because a daughter will always need her mother

Even when it’s only her soul that remains

Thank you for reading!
