Altered Reality

A Poem

A perfect world would've been us finding each other in the end,

not living in a space filled with maybe's, never's, or unknown,

and having the capacity for something tangible or certainties.

You would meet me halfway if I needed

never needing to question the validity of my love

as it is easy to inhale and exhale; second nature knowing.

But that perfect isn't real

and I am stuck wanting a version of you that doesn't exist beyond my mind.

I cannot alter this reality to want you to want me,

but I can't live in the reality that I conjured

knowing I wake up to it all disappearing.
