Are you of the mind, meatball divine,
that you’re here to be heavenly basted?
Cream cheese smears in the folds of your ears,
while you mouth a sock that’s giggle spit-pasted
Ritz cracker dust affixed to hints of nose crust,
so you inhale a white-sand butter beach
Then gaze at your fingers, where cat fur lingers,
as if bliss is now within your lush reach
Containing marigold zest against a grief-stricken chest,
you’ve hummed concertos between collarbone and prayers
Friendly thorns from the rose cause daddy to kiss your nose,
so you weave a flower crown from his mustache hairs
Morning sings through your skin like daylight on a dorsal fin,
once you wake and smell of steeped cotton ease
Mouth open wide for what the world can provide,
ingesting bugs as they ride a nuzzling breeze
Oh, meatball divine, soaked in the world’s brine,
do you devour so life won't pass you by?
Your experience of it all may expand and even stall,
but when you take a breath, you house the sky
