Age Less

Watching you and admiring every wrinkle!

Admiring every grey on grayer days has become a hobby of sorts!

You hate it when I stare and always ask

What I’m staring at and I say nothing!

Loss in the pools of truth your skin reveals that tells tales of your hidden ancestry!

Your beautiful through and through yet you dye your hair!

You hate those greys because it shows your age when age is nothing to hate! I say wear it as a badge of honor!

You loved the you that wore platform shoes and club hopped in the 70s and 80s!

The you that drove a red GTO in pristine condition that was once hidden from grandma and grandpa!

The purchaser was a young man of means who fell under your teenage spell.

Your wrinkles aren’t as visible to the naked eye due to how young and vibrant your complexion is ... was ... is ... was as your face is still clear in my mind!

Thoughts of you take me back to the smell

Of soul food kitchens and Avon perfume!

The sound of a sewing machine and

Anita Baker records playing still echoing

In the hallway of my thoughts mother board!

My moms memories remain ageless!
