accomplices in little, everyday crimes

a poem

until you called us, you were safe

driving without worries, kids on board

your afflictions stuffed in dusty corners

wide road ahead

yet something suddenly snapped along the way

you broke down, the car stopped, it can’t move by itself

and then

everything you have hidden in your own patch

became clear and visible to all of us

abruptly it made others realise

that you are not going to take responsibility for it;

you lay on us your little crimes

driving hundreds of miles at night

with children and vulnerable persons

who will be to blame for this?

of course, no means in the middle of nowhere

of course, the opposite weather to the one

you returned from

even though you knew about it here

you think you should be treated with special respect

missing it on the other side

I wonder if you ever thought that

through telling us details of your life

you confess all your sins

committed intentionally and worth hundreds

you have to pay to finally be safe

yet you will never be satisfied

just like me assessing your poor mental judgment

to contain any of it

illogical kink for doing the right thing
