Acceptance
The core skill to rebuilding the self
When the world is burning
what should we do
to quench the flames?
.
Fires which consume
pieces of the self.
.
Everything fades
into the fragments
of dead things. Pieces
of old life. Detritus
of narratives
.
which did not mean
what we thought?
.
What do we do with this
organic matter?
This strange fertilizer?
.
--
.
She is so beautiful
when she wakes
in the morning
and is ready
to embrace the world
five minutes after
she woke up.
.
Her fluffy pixie cut hair
unrestrained
in a body
she did not inherit
from me. She asks "dad
what are we doing today?
is it a school day?
Will I see my best friend today?"
.
I have to tell her no
this is a mom relationship,
but I promise
better things in the end.
She is content
.
I will deliver
on this promise.
She knows her dad
is good like that.
.

.
Acceptance is a journey
never quite finished.
A contemplation
worth taking seriously.
.
Written on real pages
with blood
as the ink.
.
Fluids to make it real,
to feel,
.
the new life
in new dreams,
where we breath
with new lungs.
.
Promised from a God
who provides to those
who seek hard things
only a diety could give.
.
We are the kings
in this life.
.
What is not needed
dies sometimes.
Ferociously,
but does not have to burn
.
forever. But only
for a few moments.
Then we are born, and
.
reborn. Into something different,
something worthy,
of our inner fire.
.
This worth needs fertilizer
to make the change real.
So we feel, really feel
.
the blood releasing
through veins and vessels
of the core self,
.
once again.
