Absurd Part of Renewal

Poetry prompt: Renewal

Reduced to nothing

but feeling trapped

by four walls.

Enclosing us

from the outside world.

Air coming

from the crack of

a window.

Renewing our sense

of reality

outside our homes.

Minds race

thinking of another day

stuck inside.

Day after day,

boredom and depression

is all I feel.

Officiating the coming of terms,

we never know when

once again

we'll feel freedom.

Streaming anger

reaches a boiling point.

Can't hold it in,

having to let it all out.

Calming breaths

no longer exist

in my world.

Fear narrates

the need to survive

the mess.

World is at a stop,

everyone standing

still in motion.

The point of renewing

our normal lives

far in the distance.

Author's Note: This poem is about feeling trapped in our homes as we are stuck here during lockdown. Each day that passes, is another day of longing to live our lives as we want to and not being told we can't leave our homes.
