A Woman's Plight

A poem for the dismissed

Apocalypse is looming

While teenage brides are assuming

Their places as mannequins and rag dolls

Watching men in suits dismiss their calls

Lords and dictators deliver death and tombs

While girls grow slaves in wombs

Now much is to be said

Of women who stayed and women who fled

But who is to say

For who you should pray

Look not to the girl with a baby sat on her hip

Or to the woman just looking for a sip

If you're searching for a soul to save

Look to the men who crave

A trust built just to break

A love invested just to ache

Look to the boy with a fist at his side

Look to the man with a knife to hide

Now see who lit the flame

Now tell me who's to blame
