A wake

waking through death

Often what is hidden

is in plain sight

But our eyes stay shut

we close them tight

To even peek

would be such a fright

So we try to ignore it

with all of our might

Meanwhile giving credit,

and yes, even power

To the ones you swear

should make us cower

You put them on your eyes

hour after hour

All of this fear

only makes us sour

You say it's mind control

Like you haven't got a soul

As if you don't decide

what is beautiful

What has meaning

and what really matters

When it all falls apart

and everything shatters

Where will anger

lead you then?

Among enemies

there are no friends

Are you really being you?

Or do you only pretend?

So a mob will keep you safe

you try to “fit in”?

This is where you rely

Solely on the mind's eye

The only thing

that will not deny

The passion you have

burning inside

Do not give credence

To what was meant to die

Take hold of your power

Stand strong when you rise

Be patient and kind

But never over empathize

The power against you

Is only in your mind

Lean into what calls you

See what you find

About what's truly meant

for you and mankind

But you can only wake

Through death

Choke out the lies

Steal their breath

Focus on your path

Do not fear the journey

The purpose of life

Is all about learning

Not just learning

but also unteaching

The system’s doctrination

That's vastly over reaching

Stop seeking approval

To be who you are

Man has no rule

Over skies and stars

May the old you

Rest in peace

As you find yourself

In sweet release
