A Sip of Amour

an ode to the love I yearn for

A sip of amour

Transcended amidst the virtues of love that are deemed true,

I pondered over the predefined chaos that the amorous birds of prey hid under its sinew

Glorified and unappalled, the essence of it belied in its glory

Unattained and unbothered, I knew that age-old tale wouldn't write my story.

Books I have squandered across and tales I have been told,

I want a love that breathes in me till my skin turns wrinkled and old.

Beauty in the eyes of the beholder it resides,

I yearn for a love that sees the pain in the walls that stand beside.

Amour in its exemplar beholds its ground high,

A love that nourishes the void in my heart, is all I need, “ I say and sigh.

Simplicity that catches the breath, I don't wish for gestures that extol in praise,

The symphony of music that drips our souls into two cups of coffee,

And we dive deep into conversations about the dreams we long to chase.

Yes, I am not the easiest girl to love, for my love doesn't stand for shallow promises to keep,

I would not be the one to mellow in your tune, for my love runs deep.

To love with the soul and hold my head with pride,

A promise of forever to hold you against anything in this stride.

I don't want you to vow to me about loving me till the end of the moon and stars,

For the love I hold, I would hug the hurt and kiss your scars.

The love I hold is profound, yes I hold the ground high.

Mastering the essence of loving myself, I see beyond the lie.

To love and to be loved as I am as a broken mess,

A sip of amour that lasts forever is all I want, I guess.
