A ring of gold

Eternity

By Emily McGuffPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

A ring of gold

wraps like twine,

braided and frayed,

around an iris.

-

It glows,

pulses with promise

and hope and futures

not yet written.

-

At 38, I thought

it would be on my finger

Instead it is

in my dimmed reflection.

-

Youth is a memory.

But self-love - eternity.
