I sit in a crate watching all the people
Some of them seem kind
Others seem unpleasant
I like most of them though
~
I call out to them and let them know I’m here
Some look my way
Others pay me no attention
Eventually though they all walk on
~
Day in and day out I sit here
I’m barely allowed to go out of my crate
But when I do I make sure to thank the people who are taking care of me
I wish I could have a home though
~
One day the people are really nice to me
They bring me special food
They let me out more and play with me
But all of them their eyes seem so sad
~
A small person comes in to the room while I am out
She takes one look at me and runs over
She cups my face with her tiny hands
And stares into my eyes
~
Instantly I love this tiny person
She sees me and she wants to see me
She turned around to a bigger person and says something
"I want this one! I love him so much!"
Soon there is a leash being put on me
~
I’m led out to a car like the one I came here in
I’m allowed to get inside of it with the tiny person
The whole time we are driving
The tiny person keeps staring into my eyes and smiling
~
When the car stops the tiny person cups my face again
She stares deep into my eyes and whispers
“Welcome to your forever home.”
~
