i can't do that
there's no way
you don't know what you're asking
you're blinded by your "superhero" child
don't get in the way
i'm not saying don't be proud
but don't impose your mother's joy on reality
for you don't know what you're asking
and don't reassure me that "he's capable"
because deep down, we both know
you don't know what you're asking
i'll say it bluntly if i must
i need you to know the truth
i need you to know the full story
that responsibility is only mine to take
not yours, not his, not anyone else to blame
"fame and glory" come at a cost
but that's not what i'm chasing
so before you tell me i'm wrong
stop and think about who you're talking to
stop and think about who i am
your son cannot bear this pain
at the expense of his mother's joy
About the Creator
poetryinwaiting
I love all things writing...though I am particularly biased towards good, vulnerable poetry. I love pouring my heart on a page with every piece I write. Life is for expressing, not containing.
