A Missouri Spring Rain

Vows

By Mother CombsPublished 5 months ago 1 min read
Image created using Gemini

Under a grey, lowering sky

With a cleansing, gentle rain

Sunlight shining through so weakly

While songbirds chirp a sweet refrain

The trees unfurl their leaves

And squirrels scamper among the limbs

And overflowing buckets full of color

A source of inspiration for hymns

Bob paints happy little trees

In a background of variegated green

Blossoms open for the day

Bees fly to their queen

A distant rainbow on a misty afternoon

Sweater-wearing temps

Sweet fragrances upon the damp air

A bonfire made after several attempts

Created using Gemini

Chairs set out across the patio

Good friends gather

When the weather permits

Scattered stones for children to regather

Piled up waist-high

Creating a small divide

Between the vegetable garden and the yard

Here comes the blushing bride

Red roses clasp tight

Brown cobblestone path

At the end, her handsome groom

One plus one, you do the math

Forever is a long time

When it’s still spring

But it all begins

With the gift of a ring
