A Look Further

And deeper too!

Do you think the fish get mad when they see us swim by?

Do they laugh with their families at our terrible tan lines?

Does the breeze know exactly when to stop,

and do the birds feel it beneath their wings,

with their flock?

Does each blade of grass grow on its own time,

does mother nature like that we cut her hair?

Does the sun feel bad for making us sweat?

Do cows shout “people” as we drive by their fence?

Is there more thought in this world than that of our own?

Have we forgotten we weren’t first on the throne?

Is this a spiral? Is my mind doing it again?

Overthinking, per usual, you know the plan.

Thoughts, I guess, are all they’ll be.

No need for these thoughts to become a reality.

What does that mean? I don’t know, either.

I’ll just try to end with something deep, something clever, something to make you stop reading and think for yourself.

Something that makes you write it all down.

That’s the goal of all writers, I guess,

to make the readers more inspired than before,

to make readers a little like them.

It’s lonely behind the pen.
