a letter to my sisters

A poem by Earica R. Parrish

The weight of the world

of every girl I speak to

rests upon my weary heart.

I’ve escaped my past to start anew,

but I couldn’t bring my sisters with me.

To heal with me.

For they suffer the same love game

I once played.

Which could have led to

a fight to the death

of me.

My sweet sisters

Be safe. Be aware.

because not all love is to be shared

with (broken) men

who want nothing more than to break us

In order to feel...

something.
