Alone under the stars tonight, you and I,

A summer breeze drifts its way through.

And the fireflies wave as they go by

Waving their glad greetings to you

Every star flung in space glimmers and shines.

Comets burn, streaking their paths above,

Overhead in faint shimmering lines.

It’s just you and me tonight, in love.

I have no desire for vain riches or glory.

I have a friend, and that is enough for me.

Come now, let’s write our own story.

Curious what the future holds? Let’s go see.

I know we’ll stay together, you and I

As days become years, and we grow old.

Someday, when death comes, I’ll say goodbye.

Until then, you’ll always have my hand to hold.
