A City Dressed in White
by Dawn M. Hall
In the distance among the clouds, A city floats upside down. In all its beauty it stands alone, A hanging castle that holds its own.
When you travel there, you will see, The city in lights in all its glory. The city is no longer upside down, And houses the most unusual town.
The park is worth the trip you make, For the atmosphere alone dissolves every ache. Paved walkways with trees that offer shade, And beautiful flowers that move to make way.
You watch as the people go about their day, And wave in response to the things that they say. A woman walks by holding a leash and floating collar, The dog you do not see until he gives a holler.
Up ahead is a girl on the swings, Projecting the most beautiful sound as she sings. She is there being swung by her mother, Both of which have skin in the most unusual color.
A child skateboards in a manner that seems too formal, But nevertheless seems to be the most normal. Until you notice as he passes by, That he begins to float up into the sky.
The woman walking her invisible dog, Is joined by a man with the face of a frog. They take a seat on a bench near the river, That turns into a boat that resembles a feather.
The river swells and moves underneath the boat, With the woman, the man and the dog afloat. Down the river they quickly go, To be seen no more in the river’s flow.
Amazed at the sights and the differences abound, Who could describe the things that you found. Not sure how you will explain it to the world, And so decided not to give it a whirl.
At the end of the journey you say your goodbyes, Back to the home where there is no surprise. What a great place to visit indeed, To help plant an imagination seed.
In the distance among the clouds, A city floats upside down. In all its beauty it stands alone, A hanging castle that holds its own.
