a brief history of color

imagined unravelings

A brief history of color

The second color

That poured

from the ether

Was some

angelic pure white—

a flash

Of explosive propulsion

that

Emerged from

an absolute

primordial black

(it had slept

for ages

holding possibility

in its heart)

It was

Onyx-infused

dream of space

And inevitability:

A beautifully pure quiet

That could have only

Existed before time,

like the eyes of some

Quiet cat, reflecting

On everything at once.

Then from

that first separation

--Tiny suns flickered

Like millenia- inked fire

And ran wildly over the

The belly of space.

Color hungry mouths

seeking

shades transcendent-

an appetite for

hues beyond imagining:

Velvet-purple

bleeding

into orange

and burning

toward soft sapphire;

Spreading over

Beautiful deep brown hills,

And cool green valleys

Little emerald streams

meandering quiet and cool

that first explosion

of life and color

reaching across

time to

this quiet moment here

right now-

Where trees reach

silent in

Early mist.

They are

Only Shadows

waiting for color.

The earth

seems to inhale

deeply

And holds its breath

As color and beauty unfold.
