The Window Bird Chronicles. Top Story - May 2021.
I don't remember exactly when the outer window to my bathroom was broken, but I do remember the day. The North Carolina outer banks had been under a hurricane warning (possibly Hurricane Arthur), and strong winds and rain pounded the Sandhills. I had braved walking outside after hearing a loud noise that morning and saw that a tree behind our house had slumped over. There luckily wasn't any damage except for the broken window, and since it was an outer portion and there was still a screen and another glass portion we could put up, we didn't think much about it. Not too long after, there was a lot of rustling in the window area in the mornings. A bird had begun building a nest neatly in the corner of the small rectangular window area.

Hi VOCAL members and listeners, my name is Marlon and I reside in citrus heights ,ca.I've always wanted to get into photography but I just couldn't afford any equipment like cameras and such so I take alot of photos with my phone,hoping to get some good quality photos. My favorite way to relax, is to sit in my kitchen chair, sip my coffee and watch my backyard friends munch away on their seeds. When I first lured a squirrel into my backyard, with an ear of corn, I was jumping for joy. For some reason these creatures have always fascinated me. I wish I could say that this photo was taken on some grand, wild adventure. But alas, I met this incredibly talkative and cheeky macaw at the Naples Zoo in Florida. It wasn’t the first time we had met; I grew up visiting this zoo and there was always an assortment of rescued birds who called the zoo home.

On Squirrels, or: The Joy of the Unwilling Photo Subject. Top Story - April 2021.
There's a story behind my first squirrel picture. I was coming home from a different photo opportunity - a little concert in an indie music store, perfectly lit to the eye but it might has well have been half a mile below the surface to the camera. As I passed through a small park, I noticed a single squirrel skulking around in front of an adjacent business. Inspiration struck: As long as I'm carrying this gear bag, why not try to get a shot of the little furball?
