Youth Needs to Stop Idolizing Laziness

It seems like the last 20 years or so, the youth has been spoiled and becoming lazier. Also, modern young adults seem to lack life skills do to favoring academics at an early age.

Seriously, the last two generations are heavily criticized for being extremely lazy. Yes, in many ways, the Millenials and Gen Z are very lazy compared to their preceding generations. Some of this lazy behaviour developed by the two latest generations is not all their fault. A lot takes in effect when it comes to human behaviour, as many know. However, the progression of laziness in the human being as a race is very disturbing, and it needs to be stopped.

For the most part, Millenials are all grown up and are adapting to the system pretty damn well. In my book, they were still late bloomers and a very spoiled generation, but they are now getting the drift. Hopefully, they won’t make the same mistake Generation X did when raising kids. As for Gen Z, well, they are growing up as well, but they are the last and need to change the trend. Gen Z and their kids need to know this: Stop idolizing laziness!

The Trend of Laziness

For the most part, teens and young adults have trained themselves to idolize laziness. In the last 20 years or so, the youth have been taught that academics is primary when advancing in life. Yes, it is very important, but life skills should be the first to learn. Life skills include learning to get up on your own, eventually going to school on your own, and other simple things like having chores around the house. Many parents fail to teach these things to their children.

Also, kids must be encouraged to go get a job as teenagers. A person that’s never had a legit job as a teen is a person that is already behind the curve. The world is a rough place, and kids must experience working as teens. That is the job of the person! During the teenage years, the person must transition from being a child to an adult. So, independence must be practiced, and parents should encourage and guide that behaviour.

Obviously, the ideal of developing as a functioning human in society has been pushed back. It is widely known that kids do not get jobs as teens. They get driven everywhere by their parents, because they are not getting their licenses. On top of it all, sleep is a major trend for kids. There are many factors as to why teens sleep more, and that behaviour is being passed on as normality, thus making the human race lazier and lazier as time progresses.

Kids Prioritize The Academic World

Schools have cut out life skills classes like auto shop, woodshop, and home economics. The last 20 years or so, schools teach high levels of mathematics, English, and other subjects. Of course, these subjects are needed to function in regular life, but schools are preaching college. So, the high level classes are pushed in high school only to be repeated in college for general education. Isn’t high school supposed to be general education?

Anyway, kids are now taught that academics is the only way to success, so they push for that goal. In the meantime, parents have to provide everything: car, pay for college, clothes, cellphones, fun money etc. All these expenses are expected by teens from their parents. While some are mandatory, other expenses are straight up perks.

The argument here is that teens are given everything, because everybody is afraid of what other people might think from a higher social status, when they should be working for it themselves. At least, to an extent they should be earning it. So, depriving adult teens from work or just practicing chorus around the house, makes them lazy. They end up idolizing laziness, and later find out about how hard it is to pay bills. No one wants a 20 something year old kid who will be asking for money to go buy shoes. This is only excusable if the son or daughter has lost a job or been laid off. It should only be for an emergency; otherwise, parents should be ashamed of young adults that want money for shoes or fun money. Tell them to go get a damn job, just like you should have when they were teens!

Humans Becoming Weaker and Spoiled

Because of this new world order of having to give everything to your kids, the human race is becoming spoiled and weaker. The maturity level are also getting ridiculously out of control. It seems like the late bloomer is common and that is not right. So please, do not feel bad when scolding your teen about being lazy. If they are sleeping too much at the age of 16 and up, tell them to get a job! If not, make them get a job! There is nothing wrong with that! You are doing them a favor. It is better for your children to be good earners than being lazy. If no job, then give them work around the house. Of course, this only applies if they are just regular students.

If they do sports or have extra curricular activities, maybe the work thing and extra chores would be a little too much. Otherwise, shove it down their throat. Do not be a woozy-ass parent. Do your job! Provide for your children but also teach them to be independent. Dependency is a horrible thing! It seems like society has changed and children now are solely dependent on their parents all the way to their mid 20s or even early 30s in many occasions. Terrible!

Please, change the trend. If your kid is sleeping too much because you are giving them everything, you are not only teaching your kids bad habits, you are also destroying the human race. We are supposed to be a strong race that moves forward. Keep that going please! Do not let the youth idolize laziness, ever!
