You’re Worth More Than Your Problems
They Don't Define You
You may have faced sicknesses, setbacks and things that have caused great disappointments in your life. What I want you to remember is that those things that have happened to you don’t define you. Not only do they not define you, but they also don't determine your destiny. They may have caused a detour. They may have caused a delay, but ultimately, as long as you look at your problems as a steppingstone to rise higher, then, you will!
I'm not denying at all that there won't be challenges. Things do come up. When they do, it's all about how you view those challenges and how you continue to rise above them one moment, one step at a time. For example, you may have faced mental illnesses, but you’re not crazy. You may have been told by someone you loved that he/she is no longer interested in you, but that doesn’t mean you’re not lovable. It doesn’t mean there isn’t someone out there who won’t love you in the way you deserve and desire!
In challenging areas of your life, whether it be spiritual, emotional, financial, physical, mental or more, once you've triumphed over them, they won’t strengthen you alone. Your story will inspire other people along the way, as well. Don’t think for a second that you’re alone in your battles because you’re not. Don’t be afraid to share your testimonies because 9/10 you are that lifeline that keeps someone else going. You never know who you are inspiring by just being yourself, by sharing what you go through and sharing the struggles that you've faced.
Believe me when I say, someone out there is looking at you and admiring your strength. Someone out there is thinking to themselves: if you've faced all you have and somehow, you're still able to pick yourself up, then so can I! You may not realize it at the time because your struggles have a way of making you feel like you're the only one going through it.
You feel isolated. I’m here to tell you once you’ve walked through it, by the time you come out on the other side, you’re stronger than you were before.
The battles aren’t yours; they’re the Lord’s. God doesn’t allow negative situations to happen for us to be down on ourselves. We should always be evolving, learning and growing through what we’ve been through.
Think about the things that bring you peace. The things that bring you inner joy; use those things to inspire others. For example, for a long time, I struggled with mental illness. From the age of twelve to nineteen, I was in and out of hospitals, therapy sessions and on medications. The doctors treated me from the symptoms that I was showing. Throughout the whole experience, I learned my triggers. If I wasn’t speaking much and sleeping less, it was something I learned that I needed to take caution and action so that I wouldn’t get sick again. It took me going through that experience in order for me to know how to be an inspiration and motivate to other people.
Find that beauty in yourself that allows you to rise above your problems. What is your gift that God has given you to see that goodness within yourself? (1 Corinthians 12:8-10)
By nature, I love encouraging people. You have a unique gift too! I suggest you take some time to do some self-reflection.
Ask yourself: Why do I do what I do? To whom am I doing this for? What is the one thing I do naturally that motivates myself and the ones around me?
While you reflect, know that you’re never truly alone. All we have to do is trust the process, trust our higher power, and put in the work.
