Why I Got Facebook Monetization?

I don’t have a traditional job. I earn by selling arts in Etsy, writing for different online platforms, and publishing books on Amazon. They are not enough, as you imagine. I felt Facebook, where I have been active for 16 years, and share so much valuable things, should help me.

In February this year, in my thoughts, I told to Facebook, “You should do something for me. For 16 years, I have been adding value to your platform. I don’t know what you can do, but you should do something. I am not your mediocre profile. You know that.”

It may be the confidence on the authenticity and quality of my works, that I thought so. The way I contributed to 150+ very different groups. Only a highly versatile person with broad skillset can do that. 

I am top or star contributors of California native plants, collage art, walk for peace, watercolor, acrylic, photography, inflammation, eczema, california, eastern sierra, gardening, sumi-e, trees, stamp, book, Amazon KDP, Wildlife, birding, Kid crafts, hollyhock, minimal photos, southwest photography, foraging, dandelion, pressed flower crafts and many more groups.

And as if telepathy, in a few days, Facebook invited me to monetize my profile. Author Paulo Coelho had said so, right? “When you desire something, the Universe conspires..”

I didn’t believe the invitation, and ignored, thinking it just another scam. Are not scams of all kinds swirling on online space? I had never heard of Facebook giving money to users. I had reasons to doubt.

In few days, Facebook invited again. This time, I thought, okay, let’s try. ChatGPT, my mentor at this point, might have assured me that it’s legitimate. That Meta gives millions to creators with impact. I gave my bank details, filled up the queries, and saw something unexpected. Whatever I posted, earned something. Well, cents to dollars. Cumulatively, significant sum. I had no idea, in a day, my work can be viewed by as high as 50,000 people. Engagement is much less though.

I checked what’s the reason I got monetized. Of course, it is because I had activated digital creator option. Also, I got lots of traffic to my profile, because I am a part of all those Facebook groups.

But the notification also mentioned, “Your profile has the ability to bring people together.”

I liked the answer. And that’s what I see now.

My friend list has a very diverse population, and through comments on my posts, people who don’t know each other, get to know and support each other.

Facebook honored my contributions.

Sharing my knowledge and raising awareness on Facebook felt so right. This way, I have touched the lives of so many people across the globe. I have made friends and supporters. Some of them have shown extraordinary kindness to me. They buy my arts, books, and send gifts related to my hobbies, like stamp collection.

It’s no less than a miracle, all because of Facebook.

I earn whatever I earn by content only. I have not even activated stars and affiliation marketing. I can even ask for paid subscriptions.
